Praxis & Theory

Quest: “Theory and Praxis” — Kingdom of Uraya — the balcony cafe on the southwest side of the Fonsa Myma Commercial District (quest givers: Praxis and Theory). The whole quest takes place around Fonsa Myma, with ingredient runs to Argentum and Leftheria.

How to get Praxis & Theory: Neither is a random pull — both come from a three-quest chain. Praxis (Water / Megalance / ATK): complete the Blade Quest 'Crystal Clear' (triggers on Obra Street, Torigoth after starting Chapter 5, with ten Core Crystals in inventory, the 'Core Crystal Hunters' rumor bought from the Informant in Mor Ardain, and Mòrag in the party) to receive Praxis's Core Crystal. Theory (Ice / Chroma Katana / TNK): complete the Blade Quest 'Blade-Sharp Memory' (Royal Guard Barracks, Fonsa Myma; requires Chapter 7 started, Crystal Clear completed, Praxis awakened, and Praxis's Lv 4 Key Affinity) to receive Theory's Core Crystal.

How the quest unlocks
With both Blades awakened: view the Heart-to-Heart 'Rough Diamond' at Orl Cloudway: Fonsett, Leftheria (spawned by resting at the Fonsett Village inn with Praxis and Theory engaged; requires Praxis's Lv 5 Key Affinity and her Fierce Deluge Blade Special at Lv 4), unlock Theory's Lv 2 Key Affinity, then approach the balcony cafe in Uraya's Commercial District with Praxis, Theory, Pyra, Nia, Tora, Mòrag, and Zeke all in the party. Fandom says it is available 'starting in chapter 8'; Xeno Series Wiki lists it as 'Chapter 8 (after the party reunites while fighting Infernal Guldo)'.

Xeno Series Wiki dates the trigger to Chapter 8 (the party reuniting against Infernal Guldo, a scene without Pyra), so try it in Chapter 8 first

Walkthrough

  1. Approach the balcony cafe in the Uraya Commercial District and speak to the two boys (Vaio and Veero), who are missing their father.
  2. Approach Vaio and Veero again in Torika Alley, Fonsa Myma.
  3. Approach the boys' father at Fonsa Myma Port.
  4. Defeat the three mercenary Drivers attacking at the port: Lv 46 Avarr Driver, Lv 45 Torst Driver, and Lv 45 Firan Driver.
  5. Speak to Volette at Fonsa Myma Port, then to Brabe in the Commercial District, who agrees to bake cookies for the local children.
  6. Gather ingredients for 50 Whelzaman Cookies — Brabe bakes them in batches of 10, each batch needing 5 Bright Fig (Uraya collection points: Cobalt Cliffs, Bluestep Ditch, Farlaine Central Pools, Farlaine Wells), 2 Sparklesugar (bought at Honeycomb Sweets in Argentum's Goldmouth), 2 Whisper Tomato (Leftheria: the farm north of Corinne's House in Fonsett Village, or Isle of Terminomni), and 1 Limdo Flamii Egg (dropped by Limdo Flamii in Uraya at Cleansing Spring, Lake Varna, Eight-Rock Skip, Fonsa Myma Waters) — 25/10/10/5 in total.
  7. Distribute the cookies to ten children around Fonsa Myma: Osqo (Aldomar Books), Marshy (near Brad Flatforms), Menda (small dock by the Commercial District), Mulba (Mymoma Playhouse ticket counter), Reez (by the Royal Guard Barracks), Cmin (end of a dock at Fonsa Myma Port), Renle (balcony above Torika Alley — needs Wind Mastery 2 + Leaping 2), Terry (Torika Alley), Jeline (by the Uraya Merc Barracks), and Jammie (Sevind Palace Plaza).
  8. Complete the three side quests that auto-trigger from the handouts: 'Family vs. Fiends' (Terry), 'Jeline and Shaun' (Jeline), and 'Boys and Bullies' (Jammie).
  9. Return to Vaio and Veero in the Commercial District to finish — Theory and Praxis complete their atonement for their past lives of crime.

Good to know

  • This is really the finale of a three-quest chain (Crystal Clear → Blade-Sharp Memory → Theory and Praxis). Crystal Clear's own triggers are easy to miss: you must be carrying ten Core Crystals AND buy the 'Core Crystal Hunters' rumor from the Informant shop in Mor Ardain before Torigoth's cutscene will fire.
  • The 'Rough Diamond' Heart-to-Heart won't appear on its own — rest at the Fonsett Village inn with both Praxis and Theory engaged after maxing Praxis's Key Affinity and raising Fierce Deluge to Lv 4.
  • Budget time for the cookie section: 50 cookies means farming 25 Bright Figs and 5 Limdo Flamii Egg drops, and three of the ten deliveries chain into full side quests that must be completed before the handout counts.
