How to get Newt: Random Core Crystal pull - Newt is a Rare Blade in the general core crystal pool (no specific crystal, quest, or odds are stated on the wiki). Any Driver can awaken her.

How the quest unlocks
Speak to Mattragh at Torigoth Relay Base in Gormott with Newt in the party. Listed under 'Chapter 5 Started' on the wiki's availability list with the added requirement 'Zeke joins party' (he joins mid-Chapter 5). Xeno Series Wiki additionally requires Newt's Key Affinity reward level 4 unlocked and Nia, Tora, Morag, Zeke and Pyra all in the party.

  • Titan Weapon Wisdom Lv 1 + Keen Eye Lv 2 (to check the broken Titan weapon parts)
  • Titan Weapon Wisdom Lv 3 (to repair the Titan weapon - Newt-exclusive skill, so it must be leveled on her own affinity chart)

  • Newt's Key Affinity level 4 unlocked (per Xeno Series Wiki)
  • Nia, Tora, Morag, Zeke, Pyra and Newt in the party — Pyra is in the party through Chapter 7 but absent during Chapters 8–9, so do it in Chapters 5–7 or from Chapter 10
  • Titan Weapon Wisdom Lv 2 node requires viewing Newt's Heart-to-Heart 'Mad About Titan Weapons' (in a place with boats in Mor Ardain, affinity level 3); Lv 3 node (affinity level 5) requires acquiring 10 Treasure items through salvaging

Walkthrough

  1. Speak to Mattragh at Torigoth Relay Base; Newt challenges the garrison - win the mock battle against 3 Ardainian soldiers (Ardainian Snides).
  2. Check the broken parts of the Titan weapon at Torigoth Relay Base (field skill check: Titan Weapon Wisdom Lv 1 + Keen Eye Lv 2).
  3. Salvage replacement parts at two salvage points: the Search Monitor in Mor Ardain and the Delta Vessel in Argentum (bring cylinders).
  4. Repair the Titan weapon back at Torigoth Relay Base (field skill check: Titan Weapon Wisdom Lv 3).
  5. Report to Grand Marshal Robalt in Battle Command, Gormott.
  6. Defeat the Ship-Eating Taos on the starboard deck of the Titan Battleship at Torigoth Relay Base, then the second Ship-Eating Taos on the port deck.
  7. Report to Robalt again in Battle Command.
  8. Go to Hardhaigh Gate in Mor Ardain, then speak to Navarre at Nharil Central Plaza.
  9. Look for Emperor Niall around Hardhaigh Palace - Ardainian Privates, Majors, Nippers, Cetuses and Citadels roam the palace but do NOT need to be defeated; note that Skip Travel is disabled inside the palace until the assassins are dealt with.
  10. At Jarlin, Wing Area #1, defeat the 3 assassins: Brionac Ghost, Brionac Rados and Brionac Reys.
  11. Speak to Niall in Jarlin, Wing Area #1 to finish - Newt earns the Emperor's thanks.

Good to know

  • You cannot finish this quest without Titan Weapon Wisdom Lv 3, a skill only Newt has: Lv 2 requires viewing her Heart-to-Heart 'Mad About Titan Weapons' (affinity level 3, at a place with boats in Mor Ardain) and Lv 3 (affinity level 5) requires salvaging 10 Treasure items - grind these before starting the repair step.
  • If the quest is not appearing at all, the usual culprit is the party requirement: Nia, Tora, Morag, Zeke, Pyra AND Newt must all be available, so it cannot be started before Zeke joins mid-Chapter 5, nor during Chapters 8–9 while Pyra is absent.
  • Skip Travel is disabled inside Hardhaigh Palace during the assassin section - walk to Jarlin, Wing Area #1; the palace soldiers can be run past.
